Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter and musician Charlie Bereal has unleashed his debut album, Walk With the Father, via Death Row Records/gamma.

Bereal co-produced the 13-track album with Josef Liemberg. The project was preceded by “Never Gonna Take My Love Away,” “Walk With the Father” and “Hope.”

Like the album’s early singles, Walk With the Father is complete with charming melodies and lush instrumentation that recall the sounds of ’70s soul. Bereal’s gauzy vocals sail effortlessly over the laid-back production, making it an ideal comfort album.

Tracks like “Energy,” featuring JMo and the Greats, and “Come Go With Me” inject an extra kick to the album’s mellow soundscape with their dance floor-ready grooves.

Death Row Records boss Snoop Dogg makes an appearance on the dreamy ballad “The Greatest.”

“Walk With the Father” is the album my father always wanted me to make before he passed away. This album is who I am, my style, my vibe,” Bereal explains to Rated R&B.

He continues, “Making this album with Josef Liemberg was fun. It gave everyone joy who would walk into the studio while working on it. It also brought Snoop Dogg and me together, and we both listen to this style of music all the time. Walk With the Father feels old school and new simultaneously.”

Although Walk With the Father is labeled as Bereal’s debut album, he’s no newbie to music.

The California native, who comes from a musical family, got his start a touring guitarist for gospel singer Donnie McClurkin. He has contributed to hits like Aaliyah’s “More Than a Woman” and Mya’s “My Love Is Like…Wo.”

Further, Bereal has worked with other artists like Whitney Houston, Kelly Rowland, Raphael Saadiq, Chris Brown, Jamie Foxx, and Tweet, among others.
